Kristin:
Your comments are well taken. Having written for Southwest Airlines Spirit Magazine for ten years I became well acquainted with their culture and best practices. They have always talked their talk and still do. Perhaps that's why they continue to be successful when other airlines are struggling. People ARE the company, make no mistake.

Kristin,
Employees are a company's greatest asset, but, unfortunately I am not sure all companies are on the same page with you on this.
And, yes, we do put our pants on the same way, one leg at a time. When someone is first starting out in the business world, I think mutual respect for your fellow co-workers is very important and that even higher-ups are human and approachable. This mentality definitely makes it easier to ease into the corporate world, especially right out of college.
I love your blogs! Keep 'em coming!

Funny you mention that everyone puts their pants on, one leg at a time. I remember my first job at a big time corporation. I was an IT Manager and thought I was going to be scared to talk to the "big wigs". And because of their stature, I thought I was going to give them preferential treatment. However, the first week I was at that job, my wife told me that everyone is a normal person and all anyone is trying to do is provide for themselves and their families, just like we were. I have not had a problem with any "big wig" since then.

We're all a bunch of normal people, plain and simple.

Thanks for the post.
